My name is Americo Jimenez, founder of Biking Peru Trek and certified Official Tour Guide. For more than 17 years, I have explored and guided travelers through the most iconic routes of Cusco: Sacred Valley, Humantay Lake, Rainbow Mountain, Salkantay, Machu Picchu, Ausangate, Manu, and many more. SIGLETRACKS >MTB-PERU

Singletrack in Peru describes a type of mountain biking trail that is approximately the width of a bicycle.  It is usually smooth and flowing, but can also feature technical rocky sections, pass over tree roots, and include berms, banked curves, switchbacks, inclines, drops, jumps. Singletrack that descends significantly and in the most downhill direction is said to follow the fall line.   Many mountain bikers in Cusco prefer singletrack over other types of trails, as singletrack is usually designed specifically for the sport, and therefore may have elements that highlight the characteristics of the sport (whereas other types of trails are usually straighter, and do not show as many hills and other special features). Some singletrack in the Andes of Peru (technical trail features) designed to challenge cyclists, such as log piles, log rides, skinnies, rock gardens, gap jumps, and wall-rides.
