Most visitors reach Rainbow Mountain on foot, but few know it’s possible to conquer this colorful summit on two wheels. This is not your average tourist excursion—this is a specialized MTB route, designed for experienced riders ready to face technical terrain and altitude.

You’ll be riding full-suspension bikes, descending through narrow paths and tackling natural obstacles along the way. Tours are guided by professionals, and include full safety gear—full-face helmets, gloves, knee pads, even oxygen tanks.

🕓 4:30 – 5:00 a.m. | Hotel Pickup in Cusco
Our team will pick you up early from your hotel. We’ll drive south of Cusco in a private vehicle toward the starting point of the adventure.

🚌 5:00 – 7:30 a.m. | Drive to the Trailhead
Enjoy stunning Andean landscapes as the sun rises. We’ll stop along the way for a hearty breakfast with mountain views.

🍳 7:30 – 8:30 a.m. | Breakfast in an Andean Community
Fuel up with a warm meal and get acclimated. You’ll also gear up with all the protective equipment before the ride.

🚲 8:30 – 10:00 a.m. | Bike Push Uphill (~1 hour)
We begin the climb by pushing the bikes toward the summit. This part is physically demanding due to the altitude and terrain, but it rewards you with jaw-dropping views.

📸 10:00 – 10:30 a.m. | Arrival at Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca – 5,000m)
Take your time to enjoy and photograph the colorful Rainbow Mountain, Ausangate Glacier, and the spectacular Red Valley.

⏬ 10:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. | Downhill Ride – Singletrack Trail
Start your descent on narrow, technical singletracks. This moderate to advanced downhill takes you through jaw-dropping landscapes and unique Andean valleys.

🍽️ 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. | Lunch at the Finish Point
Enjoy a fresh, local lunch after the ride. Time to relax and share stories with your guide and group.

🚌 2:30 – 6:00 p.m. | Return to Cusco

No. Due to the technical terrain and altitude, this tour is only for adults or teens (16+) with solid MTB experience.

1. Do I need mountain biking experience to join this tour?

Yes. This tour is designed for riders with intermediate to advanced MTB experience. The trail includes narrow singletracks, technical sections, and high-altitude conditions.

It’s a physically challenging adventure. You’ll push your bike uphill for about 1 hour at high altitude (up to 5,000m) before enjoying a 4-hour downhill ride. A good level of fitness and prior acclimatization are essential.

We provide high-quality full-suspension mountain bikes, perfect for downhill and rocky terrain. All bikes are regularly maintained and ready for high-altitude riding.

The tour includes a full-face helmet, gloves, and knee pads. Safety is our priority, and all gear is thoroughly cleaned and inspected before each ride.

Yes, since you’ll be biking at elevations up to 5,000m. We recommend spending at least 2–3 days in Cusco before the tour to acclimate. We also carry oxygen and first aid kits on every trip.
