What to Bring

🗺️ Tour Itinerary – Day by Day Breakdown

Day 1: Cusco – Abra Málaga – Santa María (Biking Descent)

Your adventure begins with a scenic drive from Cusco to Abra Málaga Pass at 4,300 meters above sea level. From there, you’ll switch to high-performance mountain bikes and descend into the cloud forest. The ride takes about 3 hours, passing through changing ecosystems, waterfalls, and jungle roads. It’s an epic introduction to the trek.

After arriving in Santa María, you’ll enjoy a hearty lunch and have time to relax. You can optionally visit the local hot springs or explore the surrounding jungle. Dinner and accommodation at a local lodge are included.

Day 2: Santa María – Santa Teresa (Rafting & Jungle Walk)

Start your morning with an optional but highly recommended white-water rafting experience on the Vilcanota River (level II-III rapids). Afterward, embark on a scenic jungle hike that follows original Inca trails, passing coffee farms, fruit plantations, and remote villages.

The day ends in Santa Teresa, where you’ll unwind at the lodge or opt for another visit to natural hot springs nearby. It’s a perfect mix of adrenaline and nature.

Day 3: Santa Teresa – Aguas Calientes (Zip Line & Trek)

This day begins with an exhilarating zip line activity (included in the tour). Fly over the treetops and enjoy panoramic views of the jungle below. After that, a short van ride takes you to Hidroelectrica, where you begin a three-hour trek along the railway toward Aguas Calientes, the town at the base of Machu Picchu.

The walk is peaceful, scenic, and filled with excitement as Machu Picchu draws near. Spend the night at a hostel in Aguas Calientes and prepare for the grand finale.

Day 4: Machu Picchu – Return to Cusco

Rise early to hike up or take the optional bus (usd 25) to the gates of Machu Picchu. You’ll enter the ancient citadel just in time to catch the magical sunrise over the ruins. A guided tour will reveal the mysteries and history of this UNESCO World Heritage Site, followed by free time to explore on your own.

Return options vary depending on your package. With the $360 option, a train and bus back to Cusco are included. Otherwise, travelers return independently.
